Shiloh, daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, wants to remove the word "Pitt" from her family name

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, wants to change her name.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the estranged couple's daughter filed legal papers on her 18th birthday earlier this week to drop the word "Pete" from her last name.

She says she now wants to go to Shiloh Jolie.

Representatives for Pitt and Jolie did not respond to requests for comment.

This is not the first of the couple's children to drop Pete's surname. Zahara Marley Jolie did just that, at least publicly, in 2022.

This news comes amid the ongoing divorce battle between the famous couple. The couple, who have six children, separated in 2016 after Jolie accused Pitt of suffocating one of their children during a turbulent trans-Atlantic flight in 2016. Jolie filed for divorce after the alleged incident. The FBI reported on the incident in 2022, following a lawsuit filed by Jane Doe under the Freedom of Information/Privacy Act.

After the alleged incident, Pitt was investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services. Pitt was cleared of wrongdoing and no criminal charges were brought against the actor.

Since 2016, the former couple has been locked in a legal battle over their winery, Château Miraval, located in the south of France. Pitt sued Jolie, accusing her of improperly selling half of her winery to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler. Maraval was the site of their wedding in 2014.

Although the couple's divorce is still ongoing, in 2019 they were granted a "divided judgment," meaning they are legally single.
